First Leek
Nov 10th, 2006 by Chris
An intended quick visit turned into a long tidy up at the plot today. I tidied the shed and took advantage of the site skip to get rid of some clutter. Rob fixed a handle on to the shed door at last. We planted some cauliflower plants that we had started at home from seed into the brassica cage. Rob did a good job of tidying the paths between the leek and onion beds. We earthed up the Dahlias and covered them with straw and Rob devised a good cover from some chicken wire which he secured and so now they should be safe over Winter and hopefully give us a good show next year. The sprouts are coming along well and we may yet be able to pick some for Christmas dinner. They were late in as were the leeks. We picked our first leek today and although it is a bit small it looks fine. Stopped at the park on the way home and filled four black bags with beautiful Autumn leaves. We have put them in the chicken run. We scattered some corn amongst them and the girls had a great time scratching about in them.
