After three long weeks I finally made it to the allotment amd spent the first half an hour doing a full inspection. The greenhouse had moved on its base and a couple of panes of glass lay inside but no serious damage had been done luckily.
I tidied up the sprouts removing most of the lower leaves. We were able to harvest what we needed over Christmas and have enough to see us through the rest of the winter. The red sprouts still look decidedly green to me. Not sure what happened there.
I cut a red cabbage to pickle but was disappointed with both the colour and the firmness of the heart.
There was no sign of any growth on the potatoes we had put in a pot in the lean to but we have left them and will wait and see.
We are both looking forward to the new season and hope we have learned a few lessons from last years mistakes. It’s a brand new year and an opportunity to have another go. We are trying to decide whether to buy a poly tunnel and what to do with our greenhouse, glazing, polycarbonate or netting.
